This course was a 100% field course which took place in Cuetzalan, Puebla, in August 2021. A total of 21 students from different Universities in Mexico, participated in the course. Along 5 intense days, participants had the opportunity to learn more about the methods for biodiversity monitoring, including all groups of vertebrates: mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles, as well as plants. During the course, students learnt how to use camera traps, Sherman and Tomahawk traps for mammals, mist nets for birds and pitfall traps for herps. The last part of the course consisted of data analysis and applications of biological monitoring to biodiversity conservation.
