Marbled salamander

Ambystoma opacum

It is a beautiful species due to its black and white coloration. This salamander has a wide distribution within in the Eastern United States. It inhabits pine forests, where it breeds in temporary ponds where larvae will develop until completing metamorphosis and changing to a terrestrial life. Marbled salamander belongs to Ambystomatidae family, such as Mexican axolotls.
