It is a small frog with a very smooth a thin light green skin. The skin from the belly is specially thin, making it possible to observe its organs. This is the reason why this species is named as glass frog. This species is completely arboreal, living on trees on the river margin. They breed on the leaves where female lay eggs and male guards them against predators. Once the eggs hatch, tadpoles fall into the river where they will develop, feeding on algae that grow on the rocks. During humid nights, it is possible to hear males calling. Their call sounds like a very acute whistle. Glass frogs inhabit humid forest in South East Mexico and Central America.
